We've been drawing, painting, printing and constructing some wonderful creations.
Reader in Residence
We have been working with Ruth, our Reader in Residence over the month of February. We have been to the Ilac Library to visit her and she taught us all about how to borrow books and find books we're interested in. We were hooked on a novel called 'Balaclava Boy' by Jenny Robson when Ruth began reading it to us- so she read us the whole book!!!
RTÉ News2day visit
We were delighted to welcome Zainab and the RTÉ News2day crew in to our classroom on Friday 1st February to help us celebrate St Brigid's Day!
We sang 'We Sing a Song to Brigid,' designed some comic strips to tell her story, made St Brigid crosses and Zainab even interviewed some of the children.
The report was on RTÉ 2 and the children were brilliant! Here is a link to the report: https://t.co/VYcwUj99LA, and some photos:

Our First Week Back after Christmas
Everyone had a great Christmas break and we were delighted to be back in school for Term 2. We had an action-packed week, we worked on patterns in maths, started group projects on Great Britain on our tablets, made some interesting oil pastel portraits inspired by Picasso, and so much more. Take a look!
Merry Christmas from all of us!
The Snowman
We were invited to a very special reading of 'The Snowman' by Raymond Briggs in the Ilac library on Tuesday, 11th December. The story was read alongside wonderful piano accompaniment and we listened to a great rendition of the famous song 'Walking in the Air.' We got to throw cotton wool snowballs and wave paper snowmen in the air. It was a brilliant experience.
Fred the Elf
Fred has been causing havoc in Room 11- he has robbed Santa hats, eaten our lunches, played snakes and ladders, painted a picture of himself and even snooped through our copies!
Here he is taking a little rest.
Our Christmas Elf
We've been busy getting ready for Christmas in Third Class! We are practicing for our Christmas play, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, singing lots of Christmas songs and getting very excited to perform.
We had a little visitor to our class however- a very cheeky elf called Fred! We found him on Monday morning, 3rd December, swinging out of a speaker on the ceiling with a note in his hand!
We couldn't believe when Fred put Anna our SNA and Ms O'Callaghan on a stage when we were on our break!
We'll update you on his antics.
Planting Seeds
We grew different types of cress seeds in Third Class. We took turns watering them and making sure they had enough light and room to grow. We remembered the motto 'a plant needs five to stay alive': water, light, space, soil and air. We loved singing this song https://youtu.be/dUBIQ1fTRzl to help us.
Fighting Words
We had the opportunity to become authors on Tuesday, 16th October, in Fighting Words! Together, we wrote a book about a superhero and it was published. We all got to bring home a copy and the best part was the illustrations were drawn by a real illustrator. You can read our story here: http://www.fightingwords.ie/stories/deathlord-and-fire-breathing-dragon.
Thank you so much to Fighting Words!
Have a look at some of our pictures from the day.
