Letter to Parents - Tues 12th January
While we would all much prefer to be in school, we promise to help you in any way we can. We learned so much from our experience last spring and we have a better understanding of what works and what doesn’t work. It is important that your child communicates with his/her teacher through Seesaw and does some work every day. Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you do not have your child’s Seesaw code.
Activities for the day will be posted every morning on Seesaw. When the children upload work the teachers will get back to them later that day or early the next morning. They may do some or all of the work assigned – each home is different and the level of support a parent can give varies- you may have younger children, be caring for an elderly relative or you may be an essential worker. Other parents are trying to juggle working from home and supporting their children’s learning. If your child has a particular interest and wishes to do work on this topic, please encourage him/her. Similarly, if he/she wishes to bake, paint, draw or create we would love to hear about this. Learning takes place in so many ways!
RTE School Hub will return to RTE 2 from 10:00 to 12:00 every day. We recommend this highly as it is based on the Irish school curriculum. Some lessons are suitable for very young children and others are for 5th and 6th class students. The After School Hub is on at 3:30pm every day, with music and dance lessons, science experiments and arts and crafts. News2day airs at 4:20pm. This show helps to inform children about world news in an easy to understand way.
The teachers are preparing learning packs for the children. These will be available to collect on Wednesday 13th January. If you are unable to collect the pack, please let your child’s teacher know on Seesaw and we will make arrangements for it to be delivered to you.
Glanmore, our school lunch provider, will deliver food packs to the homes of any family who would like one, next week. The delivery includes perishable food (bread, 2 litres of milk, butter, yogurts to the value of €10) and non- perishable food (pasta, rice, pasta sauce, curry sauce, tins of beans, soup, spaghetti hoops etc., to the value of €20). These deliveries are every three weeks. If you would like a food delivery, please Whatsapp your child’s name, class and teacher, address and eircode to 0873733345 before 3:00pm on Weds 13/01/21.
We wish you the best of luck and remember, we are here to help!
